Orolia appoints ELNA as McMurdo distributor in Germany

Global leader in emergency readiness and response, Orolia, announces the appointment of ELNA GmbH as a new distributor for its McMurdo brand of maritime solutions for the leisure and commercial marine market in Germany.

Founded in 1952, ELNA GmbH is run by the third generation of the founding family, and operates through two divisions: Ferropilot catering to the leisure marine market, and ELNA that covers the commercial marine and industrial market. Through these divisions, ELNA GmbH will be supplying the full range of Orolia’s search and rescue products, including the revolutionary and award-winning McMurdo SmartFind G8 AIS EPIRB, the world’s first EPIRB to contain both the international 406 MHz alert frequency and the localised rescue power of AIS.

Commenting on the appointment of ELNA GmbH, Gwynne Lewis, Maritime Product Line Director, Orolia said, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with ELNA, who share our commitment to helping the marine industry prepare for – and reliably respond to – emergency situations. Full European approvals for the SmartFind G8 range, including the award winning G8 AIS in both manual and auto variants, makes it the perfect time for them to be joining the Orolia family.”

Fabian Gehlhaar, Managing Director at ELNA, said, “The McMurdo range of marine safety equipment fits perfectly with our existing product range and we know our customers will be delighted that we are working with such a well-known brand to ensure their safety at sea.”

Orolia’s McMurdo SmartFind G8 AIS was shortlisted in the highly prestigious DAME Awards, was awarded “Maritime Product of the Year” by the British Marine Electrical and Electronics Association (BMEEA) and won the safety category at the Pitman Innovation Awards, presented by US magazine SAIL.
